I am sure you have all seen the Gizmodo article by now, if not go here to read it. If you have an iPhone that has been jailbroken and you do not want it to end up looking like this

then you need to toggle off your SSH when it is not being used. You can do this via BossPrefs see below

The user and password to you phone is common. User is root password will be “alpine” or “dottie” So it does not take a rocket scientist to log into your phone and do undesirable things. Change your password of turn off SSH when you are not using it.

So if you want to take a detailed look into your iphone signal then put it in field test mode. How to do this you ask well – Open the iPhone’s dialer keypad – Enter *3001#12345#* – Press the Call button. You can view a great deal of information in this mode. dBm is what most of you are after which reflects signal strength -80 to -70 dBm: Reasonably strong signal -107 to -90 dBm: Weak signal -113 dBM: No servicable signal. If you need more info on dBm If you want to exit the test mode, but retain the dbm display instead of bars, hold the home key about 3-5 seconds. You should then be able to toggle between bars and -dbm by tapping the bars or dbm numbers.

How many old cell phones do you have? What are you saving them for? Not sure how to dispose of them, right? There are over 200 million active cell phones in the US alone and more than twice that number that are no longer in use but not yet disposed of. Millions of phones waiting to be thrown away! This number will rise in future years with the advances in cell phone technology and the cost to replace or upgrade being a better deal than cost to repair. What are we going to do with all of these phones?

Most cell phones can be repaired and refurbished barring major damage. They can then be put back into use thus reducing the number of new phones needed, raw materials mined and pollution emissions released from manufacturing. Working phones are often donated to organizations who provide them to people who need them like women and families threatened with domestic abuse.

When phones are too damaged to be repaired recycling is a better choice than throwing the phone in the trash and having it end up in your local landfill. The recycling process reuses most of the parts keeping the hazardous electronics and heavy metals from accumulating in landfills – including the landfills in your community. Waste from electronics is the source of over 75% of the toxins in municipal landfills. These toxins and heavy metals seep through the ground and contaminate groundwater and surrounding ecosystems.

SO, find a donation bin at Office Depot, AT&T, Best Buy and others as listed on www.recellular.com/recycling/index.asp Check out the fundraising potential in starting your own collection program at Click Here!. The more cell phones we keep in circulation and out of the landfills, the better.

However before we start this let me introduce you to healthmap click here Worried about Legionnaires or maybe Syphilis has you freaked out well visit healthmap to see where the outbreaks are. Here is a screenshot for you Really if you are bored it is an entertaining site.

“Outbreaks Near Me” is the name of the iPhone app that helps track infectious diseases. With the app, iPhone users can get information on outbreaks of a disease in their area. They also can be notified on the device or by e-mail when new outbreaks are reported nearby or when the user enters an area where outbreaks have been reported. There is also an option to submit an outbreak report and to add photos of situations that might have led to the spreading of a disease.

Sweet but why is this approved and not the NES emulator?
San Francisco, Calif. Apple has finally approved Manomio’s Commodore 64 emulator for the iPhone. However, the retro company was forced to drop BASIC support after Club Cupertino rejected the application for violating the iPhone SDK Agreement (3.3.2).

“The road was bumpy, but we remained persistent and made the changes Apple was looking for. Ultimately, BASIC has been removed for this release; however, we hope that working with Apple further will allow us to re-enable it,” Manomio explained in a statement. “Despite it’s absence, BASIC is not our focus, ultimately fans of the C64 want games.”
